High profile arrays longer than 106" will require 2 legs per rail. The distribution of those legs along the rail can be seen in the diagram to the right. The length of each leg is determined by the required tilt angle and the length of the rail to each leg.
Some math is required in order to determine the length of the two legs needed. Tilt leg length is estimated to be 2.1" for every 12" of rail length at 10 degrees tilt. Adjusting the above formula will give a fair estimate of tilt leg length for your installation.
If rail length = 8 feet and desired tilt angle = 10 degrees, then the tilt leg length is 8 x (2.1") = 16.8" (estimated). Where 8 is the number of feet of rail measured to the connection point of the leg, 2.1 is the tilt leg length per foot of rail.
If you want a 20 degree tilt angle, then multiply the above result by 2. If you want a 30 degree tilt angle, then multiply the above result by 3, and so on.
